Events in May

Missy Hughes was not able to make it to the Gubernatorial Forum last month. She’s visiting us on May 14 to talk about her campaign for governor.

Success! We had an amazing turn out for the Gubernatorial Forum on Saturday, April 11th. We received a lot of positive feedback from the attendees as well as the candidates. An appreciation for all who stepped up to make this event successful. Thank you! We are so fortunate to have such a solid slate of candidates! If you missed the forum and would like to watch (or listen to) the video, we have it here!

Youth Forum: The Events committee partnered with some local youth to help support the first Youth and Young Adult Engagement Session. It was a small, but mighty group of young adults engaging in conversations around gun violence, immigration, and fair maps. They were an impressive group. We hope to plan future opportunities for our youth.

Dinner: The CoCo Dems Annual Dinner held the evening of April 25 was much fun and overall good vibes for all. Keynote speaker, Minnesota Sen. Erin P. Murphy was inspiring, our own Rep. DeSanto, Rep. McCarville, and Sen. Keyeski  brought messages of strength and hope. Sen Keyeski reminded us that this work is hard. And some days it may seem unbearably hard. They appreciate the feedback and support.

If you haven’t seen them, check out the photo gallery from the event, also found elsewhere in this Update.

Save the dates!

The Columbia County Fair: The fair is scheduled for July 29th through August 2. While the Columbia County Fair is always an important event for us, this year is especially significant, considering the opportunities we have to get our candidates elected in what previously has been a republican lockout. We are also looking to attract volunteers to the CoCo Dems this year to help with an ever-increasing number of tasks being initiated and implemented by the organization.

For the Columbia County fair we’re seeking volunteers to help set up, tear down, and to be present in the booth during Fair hours. Please see attached sign up sheet to volunteer. If you cannot access the sheet, please reach out to JoEllen Pauls at 920-960-1959 or cubusdems@gmail.com

Picnic: Our annual picnic will be on Saturday, September 19 at the McKenzie Environmental Shelter. Watch for more details soon.

Membership Meetings

Membership meetings: We are busy planning and preparing for upcoming membership meetings. Our primary focus will be on the elections (first primary, then general), voting, and current issues important to our members.
