What Do The Committees do?

Membership

The Membership Committee, along with other committees, is working hard to grow the Democratic Party of Columbia County. They’re reaching out to residents and getting members involved in volunteer opportunities and events. Members are volunteering to help out at the office, Democratic Party booths at the County Fair and other events, and at community events to convey Democratic Party positions and values. They’re also volunteering for other outreach activities.

Events

The Events Committee is the main team behind planning and organizing community events, office gatherings, and “pop-up” events all over the County. Their goal is to build a stronger party membership, keep our members engaged, and raise funds. They find venues for various events, like party fundraisers (annual dinners, musical presentations, and more), annual picnics, book studies, game nights at the office, office family nights, and smaller events like Pride in the Park and Pizza with Progressives. The Committee Chair negotiates costs and conditions for venues. Committee members also help provide food and drinks for party meetings and other events as needed.

Communications

The DPCC Communications Committee is like the party’s PR team. They’re in charge of reaching out to party members and the public through different channels. Their goal is to spread the party’s values and positions, and hopefully, get people voting for Democratic candidates in partisan races and progressive candidates in non-partisan races. They also make sure that party leaders and members can communicate effectively and efficiently.

Elections

The Elections Committee is like a team of superheroes who help find the best candidates for local and state elections. They work with these candidates to make sure their campaigns are a success and even help them raise money if needed.
