No Good Side to the ‘Anti-Equity’ WI Constitutional Amendment on Nov. Ballot

This November, Wisconsin voters will decide whether to amend the Wisconsin Constitution. Constitutional amendments are different from ordinary legislation because they permanently change Wisconsin’s governing document and are significantly more difficult to modify in the future.

This anti-equity amendment would place new constitutional restrictions on how state and local governments may consider race, sex, ethnicity, and other protected characteristics in certain public activities. Pro-democracy groups argue it could limit policies and programs designed to address longstanding disparities.

Meet Our New WisDems Field Organizer, Sam Clark

The Democratic Party of Columbia County is excited to welcome Sam Clark, our new WisDems field organizer who is helping to build volunteer energy across Columbia County and neighboring communities.

Sam comes to this work from Madison, after previously living in New York. He says the decision to get involved came after realizing that a corporate job was not where he wanted to put his energy.

Editor’s Note: Democratic WI CD 6 Candidate Brad Smith, who is running to unseat the Republican incumbent Glenn Grothman, is all over the proposed BECI 765-kV transmission line that will hugely affect our area if approved.

This Slide Show Builds Informed Voters

At the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Convention, held this past June 13 through 14 at the Monona Terrace in Madison, WI, delegates were presented with training workshops on a variety of subjects. One which I attended was “Voter Protection 101: Protecting the Vote, Securing the Dream.”

I envisioned a rundown of strategies for dealing with Federal agents at the polls, legal strategies to combat suppression, and other dark and foreboding issues. They did address these issues, but not how I expected.
