Volunteer Spotlight: Philipp Veselovsky
Volunteer Philipp Veselovsky
How long have you been volunteering with CoCoDems? For a few years now. The first time I found CoCoDems was when I stopped to pick up some yard signs – our office was still at Lodi’s mall then.
What inspired you to start volunteering with us? I met people who care about democracy and wanted to share democratic values with fellow Wisconsinites.
What is your role with CoCoDems? In what ways are you involved? I go canvassing and do phone banking when we have important elections. I also serve on Communication committee and volunteer in the office.
Why would you suggest other people considering volunteering with CoCoDems? We have primary and general elections later this year. Several democrats are are running as candidates in our 6th Congressional District. Our district is very large and the candidates are traveling long distances to attend different events all over our district. I’m trying to volunteer my time and support to as many candidates as I can now, and then we’ll all work together to support the one who wins the primary. This race is where we need volunteers. Please join us!
What is your connection to Columbia County? I was born in St.Petersburg, Russia and I came to the US after I married my wife—she is from Pardeeville, WI. We did live in Minnesota for a few years, but eventually came back here to be with the family and keep the family home. Both of our children graduated from Pardeeville High School.
What is a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? My hobby (and obsession) is learning foreign languages. I have to be learning one or two at any time. If you are a speaker of Estonian, Latvian, Persian, Polish, or Arabic, please let me know!
