‘Friend Banking’ Helps Win Elections

One of the most effective ways to win elections is also one of the most personal: talking with people you already know. That strategy is called friend banking, and it is a simple, powerful form of relational organizing. On Wednesday, June 10, from 5:00-6:30, CoCo Dems will host a Friend Bank Training at the CoCoDems Office, 315 DeWitt St, Portage to help volunteers learn how to put that strategy into action.

Why is friend banking so effective? Instead of relying only on cold calls or door knocks, friend banking encourages volunteers to reach out to friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors they already trust. Those conversations are more authentic, more persuasive, and more likely to move people to vote, volunteer, or stay engaged.

That is where the Reach app comes in. Reach helps campaigns turn personal networks into real organizing power by allowing volunteers to import contacts, identify supporters, track outreach, and follow up with the right message at the right time. The platform also supports canvassing, team communication, and campaign action prompts, making it easier to translate everyday conversations into measurable political impact.

‍For CoCo Dems, friend banking is a practical way to grow turnout and strengthen our community one conversation at a time. If you have ever wondered how to turn your personal network into meaningful action, our June 10 friend bank training will show you exactly how to do it.

At this hands-on session, you will learn the basics of relational organizing and leave with tools you can use right away:

  • ‍ ‍Practice friend banking in real time

  • See how your personal network can create real political impact
