When Brad Smith starting campaigning as the Democratic candidate for the WI CD 6 Representative position, Arlene and Hiroshi didn't know a thing about the candidate. They were in the undecided camp. In the intervening year, as they've gotten to know Brad and his ideas about his role in Congress, it's interesting to hear what the couple are feeling about the candidate these days. They speak with JoEllen Pauls, Events Chair of the Democratic Party of Columbia County (WI).

Okay, my name is Arlene Kano. My name is Hiroshi Kano. And I'm JoEllen Pauls.
JoEllen
And we are here today at the Columbia County Democrats office where we held our monthly membership meeting. And we were able to hear Brad Smith, 6CD congressional candidate, speak to us.
And one of the things that struck me is you've been members for a long time. (Hiroshi: 30 years) and following Brad's campaign. But you said something very impactful that you noticed about him because you've seen him at the start of his campaign and now at towards the end where we're getting close to election day. What were your impressions of Brad?
Hiroshi
Well, I'm very impressed by the transition that Brad has shown over the period of his campaign. At first, I was very skeptical about his position, but now I've seen that his position has evolved into more of a position that I agree with, and I'm very very impressed with this transition.
Arlene
Yes, I wasn't sure about Brad in the first place because he was new.
He had no history with the Democrats that I knew of, and I was concerned about that. But you know all the candidates were in that position. And so how do you make a decision?
It's values. It's what his values are. And those are you might say not Democratic or Republican. They are universal. They're human. And that is what I have seen.
Hiroshi
Very impressive.
JoEllen
Yeah. Moving us forward, getting us back on track.
So folks, if you are out there listening and you are still undecided, Brad Smith is a candidate for you. He has our full support. We have watched him evolve as a candidate. We are excited to elect him on November third.
