Lodi Forward: Promoting the Common Good; Moving Community Forward
There is a new organization based in Lodi called Lodi Forward. Who is Lodi Forward, and what are we about?
Lodi Forward is an inclusive group of proactive residents promoting the common good while moving our community toward a more just and equitable future.
Core Values
We believe in:
• Democracy-No kings: Promote the democratic process at all levels.
• Equality: Recognize we are all equally worthy members of our society.
• Community: Build community through service, communication, advocacy, and activism.
• The Rule of Law: Reinforce measures to ensure adherence to the rule of law as outlined and defined by our National and State constitutions.
• Social Justice: Work for social justice through tangible actions with our neighbors including those who are marginalized or vulnerable. Those of us with privilege should use it to understand challenges faced by those without it.
• Natural Resources: Protect our natural resources and public spaces, such as public lands, parks, waterways, wetlands, forests and air.
• Common Good: Advocate for our shared resources such as public institutions, responsible transportation solutions, land use, and local businesses, as well as community wellbeing, which includes creating an affordable community with healthcare access, housing options, safe water, and food security.
The organization held a Unity Celebration last month at the Gluth Shelter at Goeres Park West. Activities included sign making, henna, a unity walk, and picnic with food and refreshments.
